In the 2010 World Cup, Spain’s national football team was grouped with Switzerland, Chile, and Honduras. Spain advanced as the first team and faced Portugal in the next stage. Then in the final against the Netherlands in overtime with Andrés Iniesta’s goal, it became the champion and took the cup from the Netherlands.

2. 2014 World Cup

In the 2014 World Cup, the Spanish national football team was grouped with the Netherlands-Chile-Australia teams in Group B of this tournament. Spain lost in the first game with a heavy defeat of 5-1 against the Netherlands. Xabi Alonso converted the game’s lone goal for Spain from the penalty spot. The reigning champion became eliminated from the competition after losing 2-0 to the Chilean national team in the second match. In the third game, which was a ceremonial game, Spain faced Australia and defeated this team 3-0. Spain’s goals in this game were scored by Villa-Torres- Mata. Spain finished third in this group.

3. Euro 2016

In this tournament, the national team. Spain was in the same group as the Czech Republic, Croatia, and Turkey and with 6 points and because of De Gea’s mistake in throwing the ball away in the game against Croatia, they advanced as the second team. In the next stage, Italy won the match and Spain was eliminated from the competition.

4. World Cup 2018

The national teams of Iran, Portugal, and Morocco were selected in Group B for the 2018 World Cup in Russia together with Spain. As the first team, it advanced from its group with 5 points, but in the 1/8 final stage against the host Russia, it lost 1-1 in 120 minutes and 4-3 in penalty kicks to be eliminated from the 2018 World Cup.

League of European Nations 2023

In this European League, Croatia and Spain reached the final by beating their rivals. In this game, it ended with a 0-0 result in 120 minutes. Spain won 5-4 in the penalty to win this competition.
