Oman climate is subtropical and dry, with summer monsoons and hot, dusty winds. The annual average temperature ranges from 10ยฐC to 12ยฐC in the north and 16ยฐC to 18ยฐC in the south. The average yearly rainfall in the north is between 150 mm and 300 mm, while in the south, it ranges from 50 mm to 150 mm.
Oman has a high temperature in summer, and there is a clear difference between maximum and minimum daily temperatures, especially in the inland areas. The rainfall is very low in Summer. The highest temperature in summer can easily be 40ยฐC or more. Oman’s winter is cooler and has rainfall. Spring and autumn are warm and pleasant.

Humidity

In Oman, January has the fewest muggy days in a year; three or four days are considered worse. The worst time of the year, about six or eight months, from 19 March to 6 December, is regarded as the muggiest period.

From December to February, the weather is sunny, the coast is warm, and the desert is quite warm during the day, but at night, it is incredible, and even in the mountains, it is cold. However, in December, there is the possibility of tropical cyclones. As formerly mentioned, Oman’s sea is warm all year. The air temperature in Oman is suitable most of the year; in January, the temperature is sometimes a bit cool on the shore of the Persian Gulf for those sensitive to cold.
What to pack
In the winter, in Muscat and the north, bring thin clothes for the day, a jacket for the evening, and a shawl for the wind. For lofty mountains, bring autumn clothes. For the desert, bring light clothes and sandals for the day; for the evening and early morning, bring desert boots and a jacket. For the coastal mountain range, bring light clothes for the day and a coat for the evening and night.
In the summer, Oman is hot, so for Muscat, the north, and the desert, take loose-fitting, light clothes made from natural fabrics like cotton or linen, a desert turban, and a jacket and a scarf for the air-conditioned places. For lofty mountains, bring light and thin clothes, a sun hat or sunscreen, and a coat for the evening and night. Light clothes, a scarf for the breeze, a light jacket, and a light raincoat are essential on the Arabian Sea shore. For the coastal mountain in the south, autumn clothes, a light jacket, and a raincoat are necessary. It suits women who do not wear shorts and miniskirts outside tourist spots.
