The Beijing Capital Museum is located on Fuxingmen Street in Xicheng District in Beijing and has an area of 29,000 square meters. The Beijing Capital Museum has five floors and two basement floors, which currently has an area of 75,000 square meters. The construction of this museum began in 1953 and was officially opened in 1981 and its visit was declared free for the public.

Exhibitions of the Beijing Capital Museum

Bronze and porcelain vessels, works of art relating to calligraphy and painting, historical coinage, dolls, other types of ancient sealed goods, Buddhist sculptures, and handicrafts may all be found in the Beijing Capital Museum. Historical display (Hall C, second level, square display hall)

Approximately 675 cultural artifacts, including several jades, bronzes, porcelain items, gold and silver jewelry, and schematics and photographs, are on exhibit.
Display of Folk Customs (Hall F, the fifth level, square display hall)
The show is set against the backdrop of China’s ancient courtyards known as Siheyuans and Hutongs, which are teeming with colorful locals. Hutong courtyard residents’ daily lives as well as cultural traditions like marriages, baby showers, and festivals are clearly depicted.
Fine Collection Display
It takes up seven exposition spaces, including the oval and major display halls. In study room are fine artwork, porcelain products, bronzes, paintings, calligraphy pieces, jades, Buddha statues, and items from ancient Beijing folklore.
Visiting the treasures and collections of the capital museum
In the Beijing Capital Museum, there are many treasures and collections that you can visit. The exhibition of Buddha statues, which is located on the fourth floor and hall E1, is one of these collections where 262 Tibetan and Buddha statues are displayed that you can visit.
Porcelain exhibition is another famous exhibition of Beijing Capital Museum. This exhibition is also held in the E1 hall on the fourth floor, where you can see different types of historical porcelain, some of which are hundreds of years old.
The last exhibition that we definitely recommend you to visit in the Beijing Capital Museum is the painting exhibition. This exhibition is located in the seventh hall on the second floor. In this exhibition, there are more than 50 traditional Chinese paintings, some of which go back to the Ming Dynasty.
Access to the capital museum
There are three ways to access the Capital Museum in Beijing:
- The first method is to get to Baiyun Lu Station by using bus lines 26, 45, 80, 114, 308 or by using special line number 19.
- The second method is to take buses 1 or 52 to Gonghui Dalou station.
- The last way to access the Beijing Capital Museum is to use bus line 10, in which you have to get to the Sanlihe Donlihe Nankou station.
