How to access the Bam Istanbul

If you are staying in the Taksim neighborhood, you can go from Taksim square by bus number 129T to Kishikli station and then take a taxi or walk to the top of the hill. From the Kadikoy area, you can take bus number 14F to Koral station and then walk the rest of the way to Çamlıca Hill. It should be noted that the route from the Sultan Ahmed neighborhood to Çamlıca Hill is a bit more complicated. To take this route, you must first take the tram to the Sirkeci station, and from there take the subway to the Keshiki station, and then go to the top of the Çamlıca Hill.

With the aim of removing these masts and gathering all the antennas of the region in one place, in 2016, the construction of the Çamlıca Tower on the small Çamlıca Hill began.

The construction of Çamlıca Tower improved the quality and broadcasting capacity of radio and television networks and brought it up to global standards. More than 100 radio frequencies are broadcast simultaneously and non-stop from Çamlıca Radio and TV Tower.

Çamlıca Tower, built on an area of 30,150 square meters, with a height of more than 365 meters as the tallest structure in Istanbul, is 587 meters above sea level and can be seen from many parts of the city. This tower consists of 49 floors, four of which are underground and 45 above ground. Çamlıca Tower, with its unique external architecture and internal facilities, provides a new experience of entertainment for tourists.

• Çamlıca Mosque

Çamlıca Mosque is the largest mosque built in the history of the Republic of Turkey, which is built on top of Çamlıca Hill. The architects of this project are called “Hairiyeh Gul Tutu” and “Bahar Mizrak”, whose design was selected from among 62 participating projects in the competition. This mosque, which was founded in 2013, opened its doors for worship in 2019 due to the scope of the project. The worship capacity inside this mosque is 37,500 people and the total capacity of the mosque is 65,000 people.

Çamlıca Mosque, which can be seen from all over Istanbul, has a total of 6 minarets. The height of the minarets and dome of this great mosque is derived from historical figures and symbols. The four minarets of the mosque are 107.1 meters high and the other two minarets are 90 meters high due to the victory of Malazgirt in 1071 AD.

The central dome of the mosque with a radius of 34 meters is 72 meters high due to the 72 nations living in Istanbul. In this mosque, there are special places for worshiping women and keeping children. Çamlıca Mosque also includes sections such as a museum, art gallery, library, conference hall, art studio and parking lot.

This story is so beautifully written that it made Pierre Loti one of the most popular writers in France, and in his honor, this hill and cafe were named Pierre Loti Hill or lovers’ Bam.
